Postby redwattles » Wed Nov 21, 2012 2:51 pm

No annual meeting was held for the membership of 2012 due to no participation. Space was paid in advance and one person attended to sell hogs. The newly elected Board of Directors held a teleconference meeting the evening of Nov. 13, 2012 and minutes were provided to the membership via email and postal mail. Following are the minutes of the meeting.

Present were: Ray Lepkowski, President. Kathy Bottorff, Secretary, Treasurer. Dot Parker Jordan, Board Member at Large. Theresa Schieffelbien, Board Member at Large. Absent: Jan Black, Vice President.

The Board of Directors were previously given a list of discussion topics compiled from suggestions from each board member and the membership at large. Following is the list of topics separately and the boards' decision on each one, not necessarily in the order they were discussed. All decisions were voted unanimously by the board members present.

1.) Maximum time frame allowable for registrations and/or transfers to be completed.
Per unanimous decision from those present it is agreed that all registration or transfer paperwork be received no later than 90 days from date of purchase or transfer. Registration or transfer after 90 days of purchase will result in the registration or transfer fee being double the original fee. Beginning after the 90 day deadline any new RWHA rules, regulations or guidelines will apply. Registrations or transfers resulting from the sale or transfer of a Red Wattle received 1 year or more after date of transaction or purchase will be denied. Breeder/owner/seller will be required to start the process again using any new RWHA rules, regulations or guidelines, and fee will double. ***Breeders with legal and financial possession of a hog (s) they have bred will be allowed to withhold registration for a maximum of 18 months from birth to determine if in their own judgment the hog is register-able per RWHA guidelines. Register-able meaning meeting RWHA breed standard guidelines with the intentions of breeding to produce red wattle offspring that also could meet the RWHA breed standards for registration.

2.) Minimum age requirement for registration.
Minimum age requirement for normal registration will be 2 months or 8 weeks.
Minimum age requirement for R2 or recovery 2 hogs will be 6 months with current pictures of front, back, left and right side. Current pictures of sire and dam must also accompany application. R2 or recovery 2 hogs must breed true to Red Wattle registration standards and additional growth time is necessary to determine.

3.) Time frame for Board of Directors to reply to recovery applications.
Each board member will respond to recovery applications no later than 2 weeks from receipt.

4.) The board decided to table discussion on banning from the RWHA in order to further investigate infractions and an appeal process.

5.) Regional Meetings.
Theresa Schieffelbein has developed a plan for 12 regions across the country taking into consideration the areas, population, climate, and access. The Board of Directors has agreed that one volunteer person will chair or head each region. Each region will be allowed to formulate their plans for meetings, site and means of communications. Frequency is suggested at no less than twice per year and can be by way of meetings in person, email, snail mail or phone calls. One person within the meeting should be responsible to report to the Board of Directors with topics that were discussed. The Board of Directors will review suggestions, concerns and questions and respond in a timely manner. Theresa Schieffelbein will spearhead this project.

6.) Teaching/learning pictures to be added to the RWHA website.
The Board of Directors will be asking for and compiling pictures and diagrams to be placed on the RWHA website to be used as teaching or learning tools and to use in conjuction with the breed standard and card grading systems. Pictures should be labeled with the hogs age and sex or as much information as possible. No private information, names, etc. will be released.

7.) Face Book
Red Wattle Face Book will be linked to our RWHA website.

8.) Calendar
We will be accepting pictures from the membership to make our own RWHA calendar. Entries chosen will receive a calendar free of charge. Calendar pictures will have the name and contact information of the submitter on the picture if requested.

9.) Pay Pal
It was agreed that we will look into the possibility of using pay pal for registration, transfers and membership dues.

10.) RWHA website membership contact information update.
It was agreed to make changes to the website membership and contact information. Current and up to date members should be separate from previous members. Previous members will not be viewable by the public.

11.) Patches and badges for Red Wattles.
A committee consisting of board members will look into the possibility of having red wattle patches or badges made and for purchase.

12.) Contacting previous members.
Theresa Schieffelbein will be compiling names and addresses of previous members to contact regarding updating information.

13.) Membership Participation.
It was agreed to ask for Board of Directors and membership participation in compiling newsletters and maintaining the website.

Tues. Nov. 13, 2012 8:45 P.M. meeting was adjourned.

All current membership has been provided copies of the RWHA By-Laws via email or snail mail.
