Minutes of the RWHA Board of Directors meeting held via teleconference February 11, 2010

Those present via phone: Clyde Grover, Jesse Adams, Brian Jordan, Nathan Melson, Dot Jordan.
Meeting was called to order by Brian Jordan, president. Discussion followed regarding the updated version of the RWHA Bylaws. Dot noted that there is a potential problem with having a flat $25 membership and allowing couples to vote individually. It was suggested by Jesse that there be two levels of membership: single and farm/couple. After debating the merits of the proposed system, a motion was made by Nathan. Beginning January 1, 2010 there will be a Single membership @ $25 which will entitle the member to one vote and a Farm/Family membership @ $40 that will entitle the farm/family to two votes. The motion was seconded by Clyde.
Brian reminded every one to send in their definition of "Heritage Pork" ASAP so that they can be sent on to the ALBC.
The next item on the agenda was the closing the recovery program. The Board agreed unanimously that the recovery program will end January 1, 2013.
The Board moved on to discuss the breed up program. How to handle terminating this program without penalizing those who are currently using the program was discussed and ideas reviewed. A motion was made to amend the Breed Up program with the following wording: "Breeders who have animals which have been documented as part of the Red Wattle Breed Up Program shall be eligible to complete the program. Animals that are 31/32nd pure RW being eligible for registration as outlined in the Breed Up Provided the Breed Up process was started before January 1, 2013. Breed up programs started after February 11, 2010 must be completed in 5yrs or less from the date initiated. "
Nathan reported on his progress in defining the role of Technical Advisor. He will contact ALBC for feedback them forward his written definition to Dot for discussion by the Board of Directors as this position needs to be defined in the By laws for the association.
Dot reported on her findings regarding creating RWHA T-shirt, caps. She noted that not being able to meet minimums created a problem with cost. Nathan & Clyde mentioned they may have information on reasonably priced sources for items. They agreed to get a price list and availability to Dot as soon as possible.
The board agreed to meet again via teleconference on April 8, 2010.
Jesse moved that the meeting be adjourned with Nathan seconding the motion.
The meeting was adjourned.
