I was looking at all the great pics here, and decided to put up a few of my own as well... These are Daddy O, my larger boar

Great pictures Mike. Thanks for sharing. You can really see the color distinction with Daddy O. and your sow or gilt. We have that too. My favorite sow is light strawberry red and the boar is what I call deep cherry or sort of reddish black. They make beautiful medium red colored babies. Do you see that with your offspring? (Ha, I mean piglet babies)

Actually I have been kind of surprised that there aren't more light and dark colorations of piglets, they do all seem to stay in the medium range. I like the darker color (until it is too close to black) My other boar is almost black he is so dark, and has faint highlights of strawberry blonde. I would rather not have one so dark, but his babies are all medium red as well, lol.

Edit: I just went back to look at the pictures, That breeding photo is the other boar, Dumbo, and a fellow breeders gilt. I have 2 sows that look just like this gilt (one is new to me) Abigale and Dumbo have nice colored red babies.
