Some advice on buying pigs

Postby earlyriser62 » Thu Oct 01, 2009 10:50 am

Hi all,

I am the secretary of the RWHA. And as secretary I field a lot of phone calls and emails from frustrated people who have RW's.

In fact, I spent the better part of this morning making long distance calls to help someone out in getting their hogs registered.

A little advice:

When you buy hogs, if the breeder says they have registered parents be sure the breeder gives you a filled in registration form and preferably a copy of the registration papers from the parents. Or a transfer form filled in if the pig is already registered.

If the breeder says they are purebred but unregistered, then get the breeder to write down all of the known history of the hogs. You will need this in order to use the recovery program to register your hogs.

Keep this information in a safe place.

Documentation is the key.

If anyone has questions/concerns that need to be addressed, please, feel free to email or phone me or Brian. We'll do our best to get them resolved.
