DNA samples

Postby bmeyer » Thu Mar 26, 2009 9:26 am

Hello to all the Red Wattle breeders! We just completed taking hair samples from six of our breeding stock animals and want to encourage all breeders to do it now. It was amazingly easy. I just gave each one some ear corn and was able to pluck about 30 hairs with roots from behind their heads with a tweezers, putting them in a clean envelope and labeling it. I understand that they require at least 30 samples to process a batch of DNA, so I am encouraging all to get your samples mailed off to Dot Jordan as soon as possible. This is a great opportunity (especially because it is free) that we shouldn't pass up. Sincerely, Beth & Bruce Meyer, Elysian, MN
