Artificial Insemination

Postby MikeO » Sun Mar 21, 2010 7:22 am

Well, I tried a search on AI, but it was too short of a string. It would be great if there were a thread on AI, as it would be very beneficial for getting a better gene base to build the breed. I for one would be willing to pay the cost of having a vet collect and ship to my vet, just to have a good viable dna match. I will talk to my vet about the logistics and see if it is a simple as it seems. I currently have a gilt from NoneSuch Farms, in Conroe Tx. She should be ready in a few months, maybe mid July.

Hi Mike,

I have reposted this post under "Ask the Technical Advisor".

You post got me to thinking, so I've also added my questions to your questions.

I'll try to be sure the answer gets posted back here and in the "Ask the Technical Director" section.

Wow Mike... great minds must think alike. I was just thinking about having PJ collected and trying to find semen for any gilts I might keep from his litter that was born yesterday.

Thanks Dot for submitting the question, can't wait to find out the answer.
